Biography
The maker Franz Losschmidt (Lausschmidt) of Olmütz is known to have made clarinets and bass clarinets from 1852. He received a royal privilege from the Vienna court for his ophicleide-shaped bass clarinet called a Clariofon. Losschmidt’s ophicleide-shaped metal bass clarinets were being produced in 1852
