Notes

David Gould, clarinet and bass clarinet with the American Theatre Orchestra in New York discovered this work in the archives of his friend and teacher, David Weber many years ago. This charming work evokes the lyric character of French opera from the late 19th century, reminding us of the operas of Massenet, Gounod, Lalo, or Delibes.

Forgotten for many years, this work has returned home from New York across the Atlantic Ocean and back to Paris. David and I along the pianist Peter Bannister had a wonderful time discovering this work and making the world premiere recording in October of 2013. The Duo de Concert was firstly published in 1904 by Evette and Schaeffer (editing firm and one time owners of Buffet Crampon).
