Monitillo, Alessandro
He gets his degree at Conservatory of Music “E.R.Duni” in Matera studying with M° Vincenzo Perrone, and then he attends the Master in Didactic getting the teacher’s diploma. He specializes with Roman Guyot, Enrico Maria Baroni and with Stefano Cardo for the bass clarinet. He attends also master-classes with F. Meloni, J.M.Volta, Davide Lattuada, Rocco Parisi and A. Brandhofer.
He collaborates with the Orchestra of the Theater Petruzzelli, Orchestra of the Festival Duni, Orchestra Sinfonica Pugliese, Orchestra Mediterranea and the Orchestra di Puglia e Basilicata. He has playd with conductors as Lorin Maazel, Stefan Anton Reck, Ralf Weikert, Daniel Oren, John Neschling, Boris Brott, Marco Angius, Alberto Veronesi...
He won many absolute prizes in national and international competitions, both as soloist and in chambre ensemble (Premio LAMS; Premio Benedetto Albanese (Palermo); Premio Stranvinsky; Città di Ortona; Città di Bertiolo (Udine); Concorso Onde Musicali (Taranto); Città di Monopoli; Città di Matera; Città del Vasto etc...). In particular he won the first absolute prize at the International Clarinet Competition “Marilena Trotti” chaired by M° Gervase De Peyer.
In 2004 he formed the Chalumeau Trio with which he performs regularly in many chamber music seasons. With this Trio he has recorded a CD (“Dedicato” – FareLive) which has been welcomed enthusiastically by the European magazine “De Klarinet” and by authoritative international critics and musicians.
He is researcher at International Bass Clarinet Research Centre.
